Sydney – International Meeting of the YouFra on the occasion of WYD 2008 

The franciscan youth of the entire world is preparing for the XXIII World Youth Day, which will be celebrated in Sydney on the 15^th to 20^th July 2008. On that occasion, as is already traditional, there will be an International Meeting of YouFra before the WYD, scheduled for the 12^th to 15^th July, in the St. Francis of Assisi Primary School in Paddington, Sydney. All information regarding the programme, inscription and the many different materials about the YouFra, specially prepared for this meeting, can be found on the web page: www.ciofs.org/wyd2008. Cardinal Óscar Andrés Rodríguez Madariaga, Archbishop of Tegucigalpa (Honduras), will be the main speaker at the International Meeting of YouFra.

Dear Brothers and Sisters,

The Lord give you peace!

In its meeting on October 21-28, 2006, the CIOFS Presidency carefully considered the responsibilities and the representation of the International Councillors of the Franciscan Youth in the International Council and in the General Chapter of the Secular Franciscan Order, and has decided that the number of delegates will be 6 (FIOFS Statutes, Art. 6), representing the following areas:

Central America and Mexico
South America
Asia and Oceania
Central and East Europe
West Europe and North America
Italy and Africa

In view of the forthcoming General Chapter to be held on November 15-22, 2008, the international delegates for the Franciscan Youth must elect, from the members of the Franciscan Youth within their respective areas, the Franciscan Youth International Councillor, and his/her substitute, in coordination with Xavi Ramos, CIOFS Presidency Councillor for the Franciscan Youth. The Presidency must receive the names of these representatives not later than March 2008.

Attached we are sending you the determination of the Presidency on the election of the Delegates and the International Councillors of the Franciscan Youth, which we kindly ask you to comply with fully.
