CONCLUSIONS OF SYNOD ON THE FAMILY, OCTOBER 2015

PART 2 -Chapter II

PDF

The Family in the Socio-Economic context

Last April 8th, the Post-Synodal Apostolic Exhortation, Amoris lætitia (AL) of the holy Father Pope Francis on love in the family, based on the conclusions of the last Synod, was published1. The importance of the family for the Society as a whole and for the Church in particular can never be over-emphasized. In fact, “The family is “the vital cell of society”. For that reason, “The welfare of the family is decisive for the future of the world and that of the Church” (AL 31). Chapter two of the Conclusions of the Synod (n° 11- n° 16), presents a global view of the socio-economic context of the family today.

We encourage OFS Fraternities with Youfra to organize a family gathering on or around the 28th April, when we celebrate the memorial of “Blessed Luchesio and Buonadonna", and we hope that you can share a day full of joy, of hope, of fraternal life together with your families;

and then share with us your experiences of this meeting, through news, photographs, etc.

 PDF

We, Secular Franciscans and the youth of YouFra, are going to begin a journey together today… we will share our thoughts on the final report to Holy Father Francis of the Synod of Bishops, held on October 24, 2015 at the XIV ORDINARY GENERAL ASSEMBLY. Its topic is: “The vocation and mission of the family in the Church and in the contemporary world.” Our goal is to get to know and deepen our knowledge of this document that is a gift for the whole Church.

“If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us” (1 Jn 4:12).
This Sunday’s Scripture readings seem to have been chosen precisely for this moment of grace which the Church is experiencing: the Ordinary Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the family, which begins with this Eucharistic celebration.
The readings centre on three themes: solitude, love between man and woman, and the family.
