FAMILY LIFE - MARRIED TO SOMEONE WHO DOES NOT BELONG TO THE OFS.

Chelito Núñez, OFS
…speaking from my personal experience.

I professed in the OFS when I was only 15 years old, seeking to live an experience of faith that allowed me to live my Christianity more and more deeply. Since I was a little girl I was close to the Franciscan charism, having studied in Franciscan schools and also because my mother was also a professed member of the SFO. I became a "cord-girl" at the age of 9, meaning that when I met Richard at 18, he used to say, I was already in love with the Order.

We continue proposing what was assumed as a priority in the 2014 General Chapter that invites us "to include the meaning of sexuality and the sacrament of marriage in all formation programs of the OFS and YouFra. " In this article we share articles from: Lumen Gentium – (LG), Familiaris Consortio – (FC), Evangelium Vitae – (EV) Guardium et Spes – (GS), Letter to Families (LF) and Catholic Catechism of the Catholic Church – (CCC), on marriage and the family and refer to our Rule and General Constitutions.

CONCLUSIONS OF SYNOD ON THE FAMILY
CONCLUSION

94. During this assembly, we synod fathers, gathered around Pope Francis, experienced the tenderness and the prayer of the whole Church, we walked like the disciples of Emmaus and recognized the presence of Christ in the breaking of bread at the Eucharistic table, in fellowship and the sharing of pastoral experiences. We hope that the result of this work, now delivered into the hands of the Successor of Peter, might give hope and joy to many families in the world, guidance to pastors and pastoral workers, and a stimulus to the work of evangelization. In concluding this report, we humbly ask the Holy Father to consider the possibility of issuing a document on the family, so that the family, the domestic Church, might increasingly radiate Christ, who is the light of the world.

World Meeting of Families in Ireland 2018
“The Gospel of the Family: Joy for the world”

PDF

The Pope chooses the theme for each World Meeting of Families. With the selection of the “Gospel of the Family: Joy for the world” as the theme of the ninth World Meeting of Families in Dublin, Ireland, the Pope invited us to reflect on a theme that was central to the synodal process that caused him to write the post-synodal apostolic exhortation Amoris Laetitia: On the Love of the Family.

The Family and Evangelization
(From the final report of the Synod of Bishops on the Family, n° 87-93)

“Let us not allow ourselves to be robbed of the joy of evangelization”, exhorts Pope Francis in the Apostolic Exhortation, Evangelii Gaudium1. This call is addressed not only to individuals and canonical ecclesial communities, but also to the family that is itself “a domestic church”. If the world is sad and dreary, we are all supposed to be concerned because we are sent to bring the Good News “of Great joy to all people” (Lk 2: 10). The family has a great role in the Church’s mission of evangelization both as agent and beneficiary. The fourth chapter of the final report of the Synod of Bishops on the Family actually bears the title “The Family and Evangelization”.
