Paraguay:  serving humble people in the spirit of Franciscan spirituality.

Referring to the activity of the Friars Minor Capuchin in Paraguay, the Osservatore Romano points out that, as in all poor countries, the Friars must get involved in the promotion of human rights.  In Asunción, these initiatives concern above all the defense of the rights of the rural population, transporting the ill, giving assistance to poor people, and to children.  This task is undertaken by the Capuchins with the help of the Secular Franciscans, who have had tremendous growth and who account for a good number of vocations to the religious life.
